Happy Dough care

To ensure you get the best out of your happy dough please:

  • Store in an airtight container out of direct sunlight
  • If dough becomes sticky, lightly dust with plain flour and knead
  • If dough is left out and becomes dry, try adding a few drops of water and kneading thoroughly
  • Dough is made from all natural ingredients, including salt. If dough is packed away for an extended period, salt crystals may appear on the surface. These can be easily kneaded through the dough
  • Return to container immediately after play has finished to ensure dough does not dry out

Wooden tool care

  • Rolling pins and hardwood wooden stamps come lightly oiled with a lemon scented food grade oil
  • Clean off any excess dough – this will prevent it from sticking to the wooden surface. If the dough has dried you can scrape it off. Just be sure to scrape at an angle in a smooth motion to avoid gouging the wood.
  • Wipe the wood clean. With a warm damp cloth or soft brush remove any remaining residue. No soap should be necessary — it strips the natural oils from the wood. However if you do need to use soap, make sure you rinse thoroughly afterwards. Never leave wood tools soaking in water or place them in the dishwasher, as this can cause the wood to swell, warp, or crack.
  • Dry thoroughly then set the wooden tools aside to dry completely before storing. New timber may leach tannins so don’t leave wet tools on a porous surface that can stain. Avoid placing in direct sunlight as this may lead to warping or cracking.
  • You can re-oil your wood tools to keep the wood well conditioned, increasing its longevity. Re-oiling is only necessary if the wood appears to be drying out.
